ACTIVISTS have threatened a campaign of disruption against the owners of a restaurant which hasn’t even opened yet.
They have said if the new sea food restaurant opens they will be there on its opening night to cause disruption.
The new eatery called Vine in Middlesbrough in the UK is set to open in weeks and will serve lobster from tanks.
It will be the only restaurant in the area to have the tanks – something members of Darlington and Teesside Animal Rights Activists (DATARA) claim is cruel.
But they have given no though the employment the restaurant will bring or the boost it will give to the local economy in what has traditionally been an area of high unemployment in the UK.
The owners plan to go ahead with the opening and are refusing to back down in the face of the the threatened disruption.
The rights group said it wants lobster taken off the menu.
