Activists’ fashion show ambush foiled by security team

SECURITY staff stepped in to stop activists disrupting a Fifth Avenue fashion show by the iconic designer Olivia Palermo.

Angry protestors targeted Palermo’s show in New York with chants and tried to get close top Palermo before her security team stepped in.

But they were brought under swift control and ushered out of the event marking the designer’s new line with the fashion brand Banana republic.

A Banana Republic spokesperson said: “A couple of individuals made an unsuccessful attempt to interrupt the presentation.

“Security handled the matter immediately by escorting these individuals away and ensured all models, guests and staff were safe and the event could continue.”

Despite the animal rights protest, hundreds of customers were lined up around the block to shop the new clothing collection and have a “meet and greet” with the fashion icon herself.

The Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo collection uses no fur, nor does Banana Republic in any of its collections.
